History
Dave Webster, a native of Worcester, Massachusetts, started playing acoustic guitar and 5 string banjo at age thirteen in the wake of the early 60’s folk boom. Like so many musicians of his generation, the Beatles’ appearance on Ed Sullivan in’64 changed his focus and his life. He played in the “Mau Maus” through high school and then moved on to Boston University where he became heavily influenced by the guitar slylings of Jimi Hendrix, Mike Bloomfield, Eric Clapton, and B.B. King. After graduation, Dave accompanied numerous “oldies” acts such as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, The Five Satins, The Shirelles, and The Cadillacs. He moved to New York in ’73, where he got involved in studio work (Bob Dylan, Bette Midler, Peter Johnson, early Reggae artists, commercials) and signed his first song writing deal with ABC Universal. In ’79, he hooked up with Street Kid, a four piece band which lasted for 6 years and was managed by legendary promoter Sid Bernstein who brought the Beatles to Shea Stadium and managed the Rascals. Dave moved to Connecticut in the late 80’s and eventually took up residence in Southport where he resides with his wife Joanie and son Christian. He released his first children’s CD,” Jacob, Wakeup!” in the late 90’s and is currently involved in several projects including the band Cloud 9 and The Quake. His debut solo CD, “Dance On The Moon,” is now available for purchase. |
